Object Description
A large 16th century German iron bound coffer attributed to Westphalia, Circa 1500 – 1550.
The chest is of oak clamp front constructed with an abundance of original decorative iron straps and ornate lock plate, complete with working lock and key. There is evidence of some old restorations to the ironwork and the timber in a few areas which you expect to see with a piece of this age.
The chest has a superb dry patina and is a dominant focal point in any room, its the perfect piece for a large country house or castle.
