Object Description
A 17 piece Minton porcelain dessert service with tazze
English, 19th Century
Plate: height 2cm, diameter 24cm
Tazze: height 12.5cm, diameter 24cm
Comprising a set of 12 plates, with 2 tall tazze and 3 low tazze, and each painted with topographical landscape or seascape scenes, this beautiful set is a 17-piece Minton porcelain dessert service made in England during the nineteenth century. Mintons was a leading maker of porcelain from Staffordshire, flourishing particularly during Victorian times, when this set was made.
Each piece is decorated with gilding and turquoise borders, and the set is impressed marks for the makers and inventory numbers ‘A7512.’ The scenes are taken from a variety of views of quaint English countryside settings and themes, with lake views, windmills, and cottages, as well as a trio of works showing small fishing boats buffeted by winds and waves on the open sea. The painting is very finely executed, and the porcelain is equally well crafted, making this a beautiful set of Victorian porcelain.
