A Splendid Large Late 17th Century Joined Oak ‘Halifax’ Coffer Chest
Measuring approximately 53 1/2″ x 23 1/2″ x 28 1/2″ (width, depth, height)
A rare and definitive coffer chest raised on simple stile feet, the 3 panelled front with lozenge, tri lobe, heads of wheat and cross hatching carved panels synonymous with the Halifax / Bradford region of West Yorkshire.
The original plank lid with excellent figuration opening on original iron loop hinges to reveal a huge clean storage cavity.
Some minor wear to one edge of lid and minimal imperfections commensurate with age.
