This antique kaftans dates from the Ottoman period in Turkey during the 19th Century, and will make an excellent addition to an antique clothing collection as well as a fine gift. Similar examples to these ones are in the Topkapi Palace Museum in Istanbul.
Kaftans in the early 19th Century were designed to be worn over a robe, and were usually open in form. This fine piece comes embroidered with metal thread. The purple kaftan is closed and embroidered in a curved pattern, it has sleeves and will fit a range of sizes.
