Object Description

From our collection of Japanese, late 19th Century enamelware, this attractive pair of bottle vases with a stylised Phoenix and Dragon design.

The design of the vases is reminiscent of the bold shapes and Ginbari techniques of Namikawa. The vases feature an alternating flag-like pattern of Dragons and Phoenix on a garnet red ground and with a flamboyant design to the neck.
