Object Description
Crafted with superb skill in silver filigree, this beautiful and delicate box is most likely continental-made, dating from the early 20th century. Its exact origin is unclear, and it may have been intended as a spice box, however what is clear is the meticulous skill and attention to detail in the way the silver has been worked, and the wonderful rendering of the spiral and leaf shaped motifs that constitute the box’s walls. A small figure surmounts the box, and flowering bulbs adorn the top. A pair of silver chains hold the lid once opened.
