Object Description

The early George III period rich mahogany carcass of diminutive proportions with an exceptional overall colour, the caddy top over an arrangement of two short and two long cockbeaded drawers, having slightly later brass drop handles, the drawers with the original locks and escutcheons to each with the original planked back, the whole sitting on ogee feet.

Object History

Unknown.

Object Literature

With its delicate proportions and quite wonderful colour and patination this proves a real gem.

Object Condition

The condition proves delightfully country house and the colour is outstanding. The drawers which are oak lined glide smoothly, the whole proves sturdy and in good original order with minor repairs here and there to the back and side sections, one section running along half way at the rear. The top shows some markings commensurate with age with nothing hugely detrimental. The ogee feet are all original, whilst the handles are later replacements, as one can see the ring marks where the old ones were once present though they are only a matter of years later, being good Georgian handles all the same. We have waxed her to retain the current patina and finish.
