Object Description

From our collection of Japanese Cloisonné, this intriguing set of 5 miniature “Ko Awase” vases. Each one a different colour and beautifully decorated with depictions of floral displays, insects and characters from the Tale of Genji.

The Ko Awase is a traditional Japanese art form and central activity of the Kodo (The Way of Fragrance), one of the three Japanese arts of refinement along with flower arrangement and the tea ceremony. It is an incense comparing game where participants would be invited to taste the fragrance and guess its origin.

The smallest is 8cm in height and the tallest is 10cm in height.
