Object History

Just as today’s television is obsessed with Victorian and Edwardian period drama, so the Victorians looked back with nostalgia and longing to times past that they perceived as golden eras. Fancy dress was ‘de rigueur’ at country house parties! The setting for the present picture was probably at Haddon Hall in Derbyshire.
