Object Description
A fine, rare and original mid-18th-century George II carved mahogany tray-top pie crust tripod table with birdcage, circa 1750. England.
The solid mahogany one-piece moulded piecrust tilt-top sits over an architectural mahogany bird cage consisting of four turned columns. The function of the bird cage allows the top to rotate and to be easily removed.
The solid stop-fluted gun barrel column is raised on three cabriole legs, each carved to the knee with a shell and pendent terminating on ball and claw feet.
It should be noted that the table is in the most fabulous condition, of very good coloured has rich age patinated surfaces throughout.
