Object Literature

The ‘blackamoor’ was a familiar subject in European decorative art, and can be found in jewellery, sculpture and decorative arts, including furniture, and in this case armour. The figure is shown blowing a trumpet, forming part of the guard, and was possibly a known musician in an English court or country house.
