Object Description
From our collection of Japanese, late 19th Century metalwork, this fine damascene “Komai-style” Koro with Geometric ears and standing on tripod feet.
Decorated with complex Gold, and Silver Zougan inlay, the main panel with decoration of a horned Ying-Lung water Dragon. The reverse with a traditional Japanese village scene. Both panels are surrounded by Geometric shapes, the shoulder of the Koro with an Imperial Mon design mimicking cloth and the neck with a vine leaf pattern. The lid with matching decoration and featuring prominent Imperial Mon as part of the decoration. The legs feature a natural foliate design with large Butterflies and the ears with a classical Thunder and clouds border.
