Object Description
From our collection of Japanese Meiji-era metalwork, this charming Silver patinated Bronze Okimono of an owl, resting on a natural root-wood base.
The Long-Eared Owl is in a relaxed position with one claw raised. Her feathers are highlighted with Silver and Shakudo allows and she has black painted glass eyes which lend a realism to her gaze.
The naturally formed root-wood base is likely Wisteria or a similar climbing plant. Signed Hideharu to the underside and offered in fine condition as shown in the photographs.
The overall height of the piece is 51.5cm. The bird itself is 26cm from the tail feathers to the ear tips.
