Object Description
From our collection of antique Oriental ceramics, this attractive, unusual “acorn-shaped” Koro signed Ryozan and bearing the mark of the Yasuda Company.
The Koro (incense burner) has finely painted panels suspended in a delicately pierced ground that resembles lace. The panels are decorated with scenes of Bijin and Noblemen in a Cherry Blossom forest.
The foot, neck and cover have a border inspired by classical Kimono fabrics in rich jewel colours highlighted with Gold detail.
Signed Royzan to the underside along with the Crest of Shimazu and the mark of the renowned Kyoto-based Yasuda Company.
