From our collection of Oriental Art, this jolly Japanese Meiji period, (1868-1912) Bronze okimono of the Lucky God, Hotei (otherwise and more affectionately known as “the laughing Buddha.”)
Hotei sits, relaxed leaning against his sack and holding a peach. His robe slipped off his shoulders and with a jolly smile on his face. The figure is cast in Bronze with Silver and Gold patination. He wears an attractive Silver-inlaid honeycomb chevron design robe.
