Object Description
A fine Kashan pottery ceramic bowl
Persian, 13th Century
Height 7.5cm, diameter 19cm
Depicting a bird, this charming piece is an example of 13th century Persian Kashan pottery. Kashan was one of a number of historic pottery production centres in the 11th to 14th century, and a number of these ceramic bowls survive, decorated with a variety of glaze-types, and with charming decorative patterns and motifs. This particular ware places a bird in the central space that waddles along, its earthen tones accented by outline, and placed in a simple, spiralling decorative lattice.
