Object Description
Japanese Meiji-era (1868-1912) metalware, this Iron Tetsubin of classical form and with Gold and Silver inlaid decoration of Red Crowned Cranes in a misty field.
The lid of the vessel made from Bronze, with a Jade handle and signed Ryubundo also with inlaid Silver depictions of Paulownia.
It is most likely the original lid. Tetsubin covers were often made of Bronze and by different artists who made the Iron bodies of the pots.
