A very good quality matched pair of marquetry inlaid circular two-tier stands with distinctive trellis inlay attributed to Donald Ross with finely cast gilt metal mounts, circa 1860
Donald Ross was a celebrated late 19th Century furniture maker. His business had premises in Soho, London Distinctive of their work was the use of dotted trellis inlay in the manner of the renowned 18th Century Parisian makers.
Ross exhibited at the Great Exhibition, London 1851 and his work was retailed by top Victorian furniture stores such as Edwards and Roberts, James Winter & Sons and John Watson of Oxford Street.
Today, Donald Ross’ work is held in museums across the world.
