Object Description
The Meissen porcelain plaque is finely painted with the Sistine Madonna after the famous painting by Raphael. The original painting was commissioned by Pope Julius ll for the Church of Sisto in Piacenza. The Meissen manufacture has recreated this iconic image of Madonna and Child by finely painting it onto porcelain. Meissen blue crossed swords to back., Meissen c. 1880
