Object Description

The beautifully untouched George III period painted pine chest of drawers, in a soft cheesecake colour, line decorated in green and yellow and with green painted flanks and shaped apron extending to each flank, having a moulded bow fronted top above an arrangement of two short and three long drawers, each being oak lined and with knob handles, and standing on bracket feet, surviving from the first quarter nineteenth century England.

Object History

Unknown.

Object Literature

Increasingly difficult to find; a quality chest and a real beauty.

Object Condition

The chest shows some rather attractive wear and tear with scuffing commensurate with its age, but the whole is in superbly original order and the drawers run smooth with the carcass structurally sound. The overall time worn appearance is beautiful and there hasn’t been any overpainting, whilst all but one of the handles are original, with the top left knob handle being very slightly smaller and is a little later. There is a fissure to one flank as photographed.
