Object Description

Of good large proportions and a desirable golden colour, the quality regency mahogany chest of drawers having a rectangular top with boxwood stringing throughout, showing an arrangement of two short over three long drawers, each with good bulls-eye draught turned ebonised handles to a shaped apron and raised on outswept bracket feet, the whole surviving from the first quarter of nineteenth century England.

The handles make this chest stand out from other comparable examples, a good quality chest.

Object Condition

The drawers glide smoothly, the whole is sturdy and in good original order with the handles probably being later but of super quality and of the period. There are ring marks and minor scratches and dents overall due to age and use, some losses to the boxwood stringing at the edge of the top, further minor losses to the boxwood stringing and some old repairs to the veneers particularly at the dividers between drawers. She is ready to use.
