A group of three scagliola trompe l’oeil panels. Two simulate landscape prints against a marble background. The third is a romantic capriccio landscape, the design possibly almost derived from a print.

The capriccio Height 12 inches, width 21 inches,
the sienna panel 14 inches by 11 1/2
the reddish marble 14 by 11 inches.
The Sayter family, originally from Vienna or Augsburg, settled in Rome in the early 18Th century. There they made a speciality of selling to Grand tourists these very distinctive and decorative scagliola panels.
