Object Description

From our collection of Japanese, Meiji-era (1868-1912) metalware, this interesting Bronze vase in the form of a Koi Carp. A particularly nice example of this subject and form, flowing water, (made using the “Mitsuro Hikime” lost-wax casting technique), surrounds the base of the vase creating the illusion that the fish is attempting to swim up a waterfall. Its mouth open wide forming the neck of the vase and Golden eyes looking upwards towards the summit.
