Object Description

Depicting the seated figure of Noor Ali Shah and calligraphy (Poetry) all around the boarders.

Hadji Mollah Mohammed Hassan Mohtasham was one of the great master weavers of 19th century Persia. His workshop was located in Kashan, Central Persia – a centre of weaving excellence and ancient craftsmanship. Scholars have suggested that Hassan Mohtasham invented this fine and very tight weaving method using white cotton warp threads and double wefts.
