Object Description
A large 19th century hexagonal silver plated brass repoussé charger depicting a central portrait of Miguel de Cervantes and scenes from his novel Don Quixote.
Cervantes – a Spanish writer of the late 16th – early 17th centuries, is widely regarded as the greatest writer in the Spanish language, and one of the world’s pre-eminent novelists.
His novel Don Quixote was published in two part in 1605 and 1615 and is regarded as one of the pinnacles of literature.
The charger has some slight bending to the edges commensurate with age, but overall is in excellent condition.
