Object Description

A large (55cm in height) Bronze and Parcel Gilt Okimono depicting a Fisherman. He stands bare-foot and is dressed only in a loin cloth and a head band as he struggles with the weight of a giant fish that he carries in his right hand. In his left hand he holds a Bell that is attached to his fishing line. (The Bell was used to detect movement in the water.)

The wood stand decorated with Karakusa scrolls, mythical Phoenix birds and Dragons.
