Object Description

From our collection of Japanese fine art and antiques, this striking and unusual, large wooden wall plaque in the form of a Wheel and depicting a pair of Dragons.

In the centre, the powerful Golden “Mitsu Tomoe” symbol is surrounded by a pair of Dragons writhing amongst the clouds.

The Mitsu Tomoe is often seen across Japan on family crests, temple tiles, taiko drums and Samurai armour. It includes such as the circle of life, the universe and the connection between humans, the earth and the sky. On this plaque it is surrounded by a Bamboo-effect built which is replicated on the outer edge of the wheel.

There is a secure chain to the reverse of this piece for hanging it.
