Object Description

A large 18th century Chinese blue and white temple jar and cover, with original brass collar and lock.

This would have been used to secure valuable spices as some were worth more than their weight in gold, (or porcelain even.)

The vase itself is decorated with a classical scene of a lakeside landscape, similar to those often seen on tea jars.
