Object Description

From our collection of Japanese, Meiji-era enamels, this attractive pair of bottle neck Cloisonne vases. The duck-egg Blue ground vases with Silver fittings and slightly flared necks. (5cm across at the top.)

Four main panels on the body with decorations of Seasonal scenes including Mt Fuji behind a snow-covered Pine tree, a King-fisher flying amongst the reeds, sparrows in an Autumnal Acer tree, snow-laden Berry trees and a full Moon. Four smaller panels on the shoulder of each vase with various birds in flight.

The borders and background decoration with geometric patterns, Crysanthemum and stylised Phoenix (Ho Ho) birds.
