Object Description

A late William IV rosewood breakfront open bookcase, by Gillows, the shaped top with a turned baluster gallery above four doors with pleated silk panels behind diamond trellis grilles, enclosing two adjustable shelves, divided by four turned, tapering gadrooned pilasters with acanthus bud bases, all raised on a shaped plinth. Stamped ‘Gillows. Lancaster’. English, circa 1836.
