Object Description

Signed and Dated G. Knoblock 1932

Height with stone plinth 193cm

A figure of Pierrot dressed in a loose blouse with frilled collaret, large buttons and cap. He supports a drum ring of paper which he has somewhat melancholically burst through. Raised upon a decorative plinth his slightly downcast gaze can be interpreted as an eternal pining for the love of Columbine, who in Commedia dell’Arte breaks his heart and forsakes him for Harlequin, only leaving him to stare silently at the moon.
