Object Description

A Louis XV Style Gilt-Bronze Mounted Marquetry Double Bed, Attributed to François Linke, Paris.

The serpentine shaped headboard with arched pediment mounted with gilt-bronze rocaille encadrements enclosing a bois de bout marquetry panel of trelliswork and trailing flowers. The side rails and foot board similarly decorated. Raised on short cabriole legs.

Object History

François Linke (1855 – 1946) was the most important Parisian cabinet maker of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and possibly the most sought after cabinet maker of his period.
