A Large And Very Finely Carved Louis XV Style Parcel-Gilt And Painted Trumeau Mirror.
French, Circa 1890.
This exceptional and very rare trumeau mirror has an arched mirror plate framed by rococo style foliate and acanthus carving with, trophies and bagpipes to the sides and surmounted by finely carved cherubs holding floral garlands beneath an acanthus and foliate carved cartouche, all set against a French grey painted background and gilt outer boarders.
Embodying the rococo spirit of Regence and Louis XV designs, the carving is of superb quality with fine detail and the figures carved in high relief.
