Object History

Imperial Topaz is one of the rarest and most prized gemstones both historically and in the present day. Deriving its name from the exclusive right to the gem wielded by the Russian Tsars as far back as the 17th century, it is mined in the Ural Mountains in Russia, as well as in Ouro Preto, Brazil. Prized for its rich colour, likened to the setting sun, there is variation in tone often found with this gemstone, ranging from Pink (more common in stone of a Russian origin) to yellow-orange (more common in stones of Brazilian origin).

Object Condition

Overall very good, wear commensurate with age.
