A Napoleon III Gilt and Patinated Bronze Three Pieces Figural Clock Garniture.

By Charpentier & Cie., Paris.

Comprising a mantle clock modelled with playful cherubs with white enamel dial signed ‘Charpentier & Cie, Bronzier, 8, Rue Charlot, Paris’ and signed eight-day striking movement.
The candelabra modelled en suite with cherubs carrying seven-light floral sprays in baskets.

Object History

Charpentier Et Cie Bronziers

Located at 8 rue Charlot in Paris in 1860, the company became known as Lemerle-Charpentier from 1870 to 1890. At the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1878, Lemerle-Charpentier bronziers exhibited garnitures, vases, torcheres, and a large and impressive clock by Piat.
