Object Description
A Napoleon III Gilt-Bronze and Pietre Dure Mounted Ebonised Side Cabinet.
This fine side cabinet has a rectangular Belgian black marble top above a gilt-bronze guilloche and flowerhead frieze; below is a pair of cupboard doors inset with fine pietre dure panels, flanked by console uprights headed by gilt-bronze acanthus scrolls, the apron with a scrolling acanthus running pattern and put down on baluster legs. The cabinet opening to an interior fitted with two shelves.
The fine arched Belgian black marble panels to the doors are inset with shaded agates, marbles and rare hardstones, depicting vases issuing flowers in high relief.
