A Painted Satinwood Demilune Commode
In the George III Style
Constructed from satinwood and crossbanded with rosewood veneers, enlivened with boxwood stringing and giltwood details, the D-shaped top painted with a central scene of cherubs amidst clouds and a grisaille putto flanked by floral garlands and scrolling rinceaux, the bow front with four painted cartouches of neoclassical maidens, each lockable door interspersed with pilasters centred by fan inlay, opening to reveal a shelved interior, supported on four turned, tapering and fluted giltwood legs.
