A pair of Chippendale carved mahogany side chairs.

Object Description

A pair of Chippendale serpentine fronted mahogany side chairs .Shaped top rail with fine detail above fluted uprights and beautifully carved centre splats., standing on square tapering fluted legs with capped ankles and plain feet. The chairs are covered in an old silk damask and are generous in depth. English Circa 1780.

Object Condition

Fine colour and patina with high class carving, the seat rails have strengthening corner brackets (see photo) and there are old repairs to the tips of the back legs. Although made as side chairs they are actually dining height at 18ins so could also be used as a spare pair of dining chairs.
