Object Description
A pair of very fine antique early George II cast sterling silver candlesticks which are of a plain classical English form. The shaped stepped bases have a sunken well and are decorated with reeding. The bases are engraved with a contemporary crest depicting an animal’s paw. The baluster faceted stems have spool shaped sockets and are also decorated with reeded bands. Height 6.5 “, 16.51 cm, bases 4”, 10.16 cm, Weight 22.6 troy oz., 695 grams. Each stick is hallmarked underneath and stamped on the sconces with the lion passant.
