The patinated bronze sculptural group of a frolicking woman and child playing the flute supported on a circular base, signed ‘H. Dumaige.’
French, circa 1880

Etienne Dumaige (1830-1888) studied under Jean-Jacques Feuchere. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1862, winning a second-class medal in 1880. He showed a marble group, Return from the Fields, as well as statues and busts at the Salon from 1862 to 1877. He also produced military, classical, and oriental work.
