Object Description

The wonderfully joyful table-top softwood and composition bust of a highly stylised young lady of the period, painted in a palette of just three colours for maximum effect, having turquoise eyes with accentuated rosy red cheeks and lips, to striking eyebrows and a mop of tightly curled black hair, the whole in un-meddled with order and surviving from the second quarter of the twentieth century.

Object History

Unknown.

Object Literature

Entirely handmade she was quite probably part of a shop window display to compliment for jewellery and accessories of the period and reminiscent of Liza Minnelli. Some might term her ‘Biber’ style. We cannot find a comparable example.

A hugely cheerful and decorative tabletop temptation and probably a unique one at that.

Object Condition

Pleasingly, she is in completely original condition with attractive craquelure throughout. There is some expected rubbing to the decoration as photographed.
