Object Description

The scarce silkwork and bullion embroidery, in unrestored original order, hand-worked in silk threads featuring scratch and bullion embroidery with Lion and Unicorn and accompanying words “Dieu est mon Droit” and “Honi soit qui mal y pense”, to a sea green ground, and most likely for military or ceremonial use, to a blue dogtooth border, the whole being glazed and presented in its original folk art stained pine frame and surviving from the high Victorian England.

Object History

Unknown.

Object Literature

A scarce piece of militaria artwork that displays wonderfully well.

Object Condition

The picture and frame are both in decorative and slightly tired condition but remain stable, beautifully part decayed and in original un-meddled with condition, which is always very appealing. Some parts are faded and there is some staining with the ground perishing in places, please refer to the photographs for a full visual reference. The frame has a lovely craquelure finish.
