Object Description

A sailor’s carved cow horn, the hollow curved body incised with naïve depictions of a compass rose, the three floral emblems of Great Britain, a peacock, a mermaid, a kangaroo, a winged seal, two warships flying the red ensign, fish and a three-storey building with a spire, the wider end sealed with a wooden disc and metal collar. Signed J Conley and H Broom. English, circa 1810.
