Object Description

This set comprises eleven graduated Mana bowls, traditional rice and grain measures from Eastern India, dating to the first half of the 20th century. Crafted from bell metal, they feature brass appliqué and hammered decoration, including stylized vegetal designs. “Mana” signifies a historical unit of measurement for grains. These vessels represent both utilitarian function and significant cultural heritage in regional Indian households and markets. From a London private collection.
