Object Description

A unique pair of 18th century George III silver engraved open fret wine coasters, circa 1775.
Each open fret frieze is topped with a rope twist and finally decorated with engraved naturalistic foliage connecting too well-drawn depictions consisting of a dog, a bird of prey, a goat, a pheasant, a peacock, a chicken, a further bird and a lively mullet crest.

The original removable moulded mahogany bases are each ringed and grooved and of good colour and patination.

They appear to be unmarked.
