Object Description
A very close “pair” of Regency Mahogany Bedside Cabinets with three quarter galleried tops with acorn finials above a hinged platform flanked by downswept arms centred with another hinged platform above a pair of bowed cupboard doors and the whole raised on inverted tulip turned legs.
This model of Cabinet was known to be a standard model for Gillows of Lancaster and the form strongly suggests a chairmaker rather than a cabinetmaker produced these within Gillows. This is particularly apparent when the side view is seen.
Please note that these two are so incredibly similar and are obviously by the same hand but there are a couple of slight differences as they may have been made a few months apart. Circa.1825
