Object Description

The wonderfully original stained pine and scrub topped dairy farmhouse table of good proportions, with a beautifully worn patination to the whole, the very thick three plank scrub top at one and a half inches thick and having rounded edges, over a two drawer frieze with Georgian brass drop handles, standing on a stained carcass with gun barrel turned legs and surviving from the early to mid-Victorian period.

Object History

Unknown.

Object Literature

This table would have been used in the scullery as a dairy or preparation table serving the estate.

A very authentic wedge of the English rural retreat of times gone by.

Object Condition

The condition is beautifully original with the original surfaces remaining untouched and not having been overpainted or polished. The colour and dry patination is superb to the top and we have left the surfaces uncleaned or waxed. We have carried out some remedial work to the structural innards of the carcass such as to the drawer runners so that she now stands in completely useable condition. The handles would have originally once been of the knob variety.
