Object Description

A fragment of an Akkadian clay tablet. The piece is carved onto the front with dense rows of cuneiform scripts, transcribing a literary text. To one end of the tablet, a single line of text continues onto the reverse.

Date: Mid 2nd millennium BC

Object History

Specialised collection of cuneiform texts, the property of a London gentleman and housed in London before 1992. Thence by descent to family members.

Object Condition

Fine condition with light cracks and flaking across the surface.
