Object Description

From our collection of antique Japanese metalwork of the Meiji-era, (1868-1912), this characterful and creatively-formed Bronze trinket dish depicting the “God of Winds” Fujin struggling with his bag of wind. The swirling winds are emerging from the dish. A bemused, slightly panicked expression clouds Fujin’s expressive face while his hair and robes are being whipped about by the wind. The exterior of the sack and Fujin’s robes decorated with swirling wind clouds and floral Mon.

Signed Miyao in a cartouche to the reverse of the wind sack. O
