Object Description

From our collection of fine Japanese metalwork from the reign of Emperor Meiji, (1868-1912) this wonderful, amusing Bronze Okimono depicting an anthropomorphised macaque wearing elegant robes and examining a Silver Netsuke of a Monkey.

The Macaque is seated next to a fan and a note-book and the miniature Netsuke is attached to a fine Inro, (an artwork in itself) that is decorated with Golden flowers and a butterfly.
